The Impact of corprate ethics on the future of autonomous vehicles

Despite the rate at which the development of autonomous vehicles is progressing, many of the ethical concerns have been pushed aside by the corporations behind their development. With autonomous vehicles beginning deployment the ethical questions need to be adressed.

There are three primary issues that need resolved.
  • consumers will prefer vehicles that prioritize the saftey of passengers over pedestrians.
  • Should the saftey of animals be factored into the recognition systems.
  • Dark-skinned pedestrians are harder for the systems to recognize.

The corporations creating autonomous vehicles need to find and implement solutions, as without addressing these concerns it will be nigh impossible for this technology to reach the point where it is societally acceptable.
